If you and your family love the outdoors, this place is for you. Fish over 85 miles of rivers, 650 miles of streams, and 50 high-mountain lakes without even leaving the county. The vast majority of Mineral County is Lolo National Forest, so camp, hike, backpack, hunt, ride horses, or go mountain bike riding to your heart’s content.
Want to raise your heart rate? Kayak or raft through the famous whitewater of Alberton Gorge. And there is no slowing down in winter. Two ski areas are within an hour, and five more are within three. Snowmobile, cross-country ski, sled, or go ice skating.
There are parks, tennis courts, golf courses, swimming pools, and baseball diamonds. There are many churches, 4H, Boy and Girl Scouts, and multiple clubs and civic organizations.
Need a little city life? Missoula is an hour east, and Spokane, WA is two hours west. Too much activity? Slow down, enjoy the beauty, develop your photography skills, go bird watching, or gaze at a million stars.
